The Mine

This site is a large underground hard rock mine located in Western Australia.

• Lengthy mine life with an exciting exploration outlook
• 3 mines on the mining lease
• 5 min. bus transfer from airport to mine site
• Telstra service on site

FIFO From Perth

For those keen to secure a long-term role on an 8:6 roster FIFO from Perth, the site offers the following benefits;

• FIFO from Perth - travel 100% in company time (via charter)
• 1-hour direct flight to site via charter
• Thursday to Thursday roster (5am from Perth to site, back in Perth at 5:30pm the following Thursday)

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer you will enjoy working in a team of experienced underground mining professionals. Your duties will include;-

• Provide a geotechnical service to the mine through understanding, complying, mentoring, and liaising with business partners to promote full statutory compliance with mining regulations, legislation, and company safety objectives relevant to ground control
• Daily production tasks relating to Geotechnical Engineering including review of development plans, blast plans, documentation of inspections and data collection, geotechnical monitoring, rehabilitation plans, stope design, level plan design, paste backfill design, and ground support QAQC
• Collect and analyse geotechnical parameters to ensure future mining recommendations are forthcoming when required
• Capable of running geotechnical aspects of a mine with some input from other senior staff and undertaking work for medium term projects
• Develop and maintain an understanding of excavation design, planning, geological and operational issues to identify and communicate potential opportunities and concerns
• Collect and analyse geotechnical data including effective recognition, investigation, analysis of rock fall events, and ground control issues. Update and report on the rock fall, seismic and other databases where applicable
• Ensure that the geotechnical life of mine contributions are of the highest quality by determining design parameters, modelling, and advising on the most appropriate mine, design and sequence including future mine projects

Your Value

• Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Geology with Post Graduate qualifications in Geomechanics
• Operational Geotechnical Engineering experience in underground mining
• Experience using Deswik, Rocscience software, numerical modelling software
• Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to work autonomously
