About us:

Established in 2003, Alliance Geotechnical provides innovative specialty consultancy and testing services on large scale civil and infrastructure projects. Over the last 8 years we’ve grown 600% in size, from 20-120+ employees and we now work on a diverse range of signature projects with blue-chip clients such as Acciona, Ausgrid, Jemena, CPB and Gamuda. For example, we’ve worked on projects in the Sydney Opera House, Westconnex Link Tunnel, Parramatta Light Rail, Sydney International Speedway and solar farms across Australia, to name just a few. In 2015 we opened our specialty geo-testing laboratory which liaises with universities to provide state-of-the art testing for Tier 1 companies, and which has the best equipment in Australia.

Yet none of this would have been possible without our amazing, diverse team, including more than 27 different nationalities. People like our lab technician who in just five years became a senior engineer, overseeing a team of 11. Or our engineer who switched to environmental consulting and now runs our Environmental Operations team of 20 people. We hire for a great attitude and have built a supportive culture, as we believe that it’s our purposeful people that really drive our business success. We are continuously improving our employees’ welfare via innovations such as our well-being allowance that you can use to buy gym shoes, yoga apps or that backyard trampoline. Or maybe you would like to take a longer holiday with our purchased leave scheme. We also help you build your professional expertise by getting you to work in areas that stretch you, or with others who can help you develop your skillset. Our long-term goal is to be known industry-wide as the ‘go-to’ experts in the geotechnical field, disrupting the market with our innovative practices. About the role:

Part of the Geotech Engineering Department of 35+ employees, our current team ranges in experience from graduates to respected industry veterans, and we’re currently expanding to support the continued rapid growth of our business. We are looking for a high-achieving Geotechnical Engineer to join our team, to be involved in a range of exciting projects ranging from local council works to major transport infrastructure projects. This is predominantly a site-based role with an expectation of 4-5 days on site per week.

As a Geotechnical Engineer in Alliance’s Earthworks Engineering Team your role is multifaceted and dynamic. You are responsible for planning and executing comprehensive site investigations, which involve collecting geological and geotechnical data; as well as undertaking engineering inspections during the construction of earthworks and supporting Alliance’s team of Field Technicians. Your expertise in data analysis allows you to determine soil and rock properties, evaluate bearing capacities, and identify potential hazards. You will design and recommend foundation systems, ensuring the stability of structures, and assess slopes. Crafting detailed geotechnical reports and offering engineering recommendations is second nature to you, as is providing invaluable technical support during construction, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards, collaborating with diverse project teams, and staying at the forefront of geotechnical advancements through continuous education.

We are a very collaborative workforce so as well as helping and mentoring junior engineers, there is also lots of discussion and interaction with senior staff on a range of projects. This is a vital role for Alliance, and we are looking for someone with a track record of achievement. Alliance currently has long-term contracts in place for multiple road and building projects amongst others. With our rapid growth and diverse projects, there is also scope for career development and advancement. Although you would be starting within our Earthworks Engineering team, we pride ourselves on focusing on the development of our employees and there will be opportunities for rotations through the different teams in the Geotechnical Department.

As an employer we pride ourselves on our positive non-corporate culture and encourage applications from a diverse range of candidates. You may be working as a senior engineer but seeking a greater challenge or more substantial, interesting projects. Or perhaps you’re looking for a more flexible family-friendly role. Regardless of circumstance, this is a great opportunity for someone who has excelled in the past, to make their mark in a fast-growing company at the forefront of its industry.

To be successful in this role you need:

  • Degree level qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Engineering Geology.
  • Have 1+ years post grad experience as a Geotechnical Engineer undertaking Geotechnical Investigation and / or Level 1 supervision and testing in the Sydney Metro Area
  • Developing financial and commercial management.
  • Developing working knowledge of AS1726 and AS 3798.
  • A high level of communication, report writing, and written skills are essential.
  • Detail orientated.
  • The ability to work autonomously as well as within a team.
  • Must hold a current valid full driver license class C and be a confident and competent driver.

Alliance Geotechnical is an Equal Opportunity Employer and we promote diversity at our offices and projects.

An immediate start is on offer so if you are seeking to work with an industry innovator and would like to become a vital member of our team, please send your cover letter and resume to us outlining why you would be suitable and why you would like to work with us by clicking on 'Apply'.
