Your new role:
Responsibilities include:
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve health and safety policies, procedures, and programs in line with industry standards and legal requirements.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and safety inspections of the workplace, identifying potential hazards and providing recommendations for corrective actions.
- Collaborate with managers to ensure all employees receive appropriate health and safety training, and maintain up-to-date records of training activities.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of health and safety initiatives, conducting incident investigations when necessary and recommending preventive measures to avoid future occurrences.
- Stay informed about changes in health and safety regulations, proactively updating company policies to remain compliant and advising management on necessary adjustments.
- Lead emergency response planning and drills, ensuring employees are well-prepared to respond to potential emergencies or incidents.
- Maintain accurate records and reports related to accidents, incidents, and near misses, analysing data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Foster a safety-conscious culture within the organisation by promoting awareness and conducting safety-related workshops and training sessions.
- Regularly engage with employees to address safety concerns, answer questions, and provide guidance on safety-related matters.
- Liaise with relevant external agencies and authorities on health and safety matters, keeping abreast of best practices and industry trends.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Health and Safety & Risk Officer or a similar role, demonstrating in-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to conduct comprehensive risk assessments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with employees at all levels of the organisation.
- Detail-oriented with a keen eye for identifying potential hazards and areas for improvement.
- Ability to develop and implement effective health and safety policies and training programs.
- Familiarity with relevant software and tools for maintaining records and producing reports.
- A proactive and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to act decisively in emergency situations.
- Strong organisational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
