About the role
RACQ is committed to continuously improving our governance practices and ensuring that they are aligned with our business and stakeholders’ needs. By supporting our business operations, effective corporate governance is key to RACQ’s ability to deliver on our purpose and strategy. The leadership role will manage the governance activities within RACQ’s Corporate Services function and will provide high quality and professional services to ensure the function remains compliant. The Corporate Services function is responsible for RACQ’s shared services including Accounting and Finance, Performance, Procurement, Property, Employee Relations (HR), Corporate Legal, and Company Secretary. The position will be responsible for:
- Providing adequate oversight to support sound decision making and assists management and the Board to effectively discharge their responsibilities.
- Providing timely and accurate information on the status of governance matters and seek a speedy resolution to those matters to ensure minimal disruption to deliverables.
- Uplifting the governance framework within the function.
- Together with First Line Risk, play a key role in developing a positive risk culture across the team and uplifting risk management.
- Management representations process, including management and board representation for Financial Statements, the Greater Good Report and other matters reported to the Board and/or Committee.
- Ensuring policies are compliant and up to date.
- Board and Management Policies and Procedures maintained by Corporate Services.
- Board’s Group Delegations Policy.
- The Managing Director and Group CEO Sub-Delegations Policy.
- Maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders across RACQ to ensure they remain engaged.
About you
We will trust you to have:
- Experience working in risk, compliance, audit, or governance roles, preferably within the Insurance or Banking sector.
- Technical risk/governance management framework expertise.
- Strong working knowledge of regulatory environments and the corporate support operational function.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organisation, including Senior Management and Directors.
- Courage to speak-up regardless of position when things are wrong.
- Strong attention to detail, critical analysis skills, aptitude for empathetic reasoning, and stakeholder management skills.
- Qualifications as a Certified Practicing Accountant or Chartered Accountant.
