Governance Policy Officer opportunity
- Approx. $55-$65 per hour plus Super
- Full-time, short-term contract until 30 June. Immediate Start

About the role
Government department seeks an experienced Governance Policy Officer to join them on a full-time, short-term contract until end of June 2024. As the Governance Policy Officer, you will work collaboratively across the division to assist with driving the implementation of the Government's major planning and building policies, strategies, systems and reforms.
You will facilitate a whole of government approach to policy reform as part of a broader team in the delivery of key policy commitments and provision of quality planning services to local government, other agencies, and across the Department.
Key duties
Your key tasks and responsibilities will include:
- managing the analysis, research and policy development required to deliver projects that form part of major planning programs.
- liaising with other branches, departments, agencies and the wider planning group to facilitate a whole of government approach to policy reform proposals.
- designing and coordinating stakeholder and community engagement activities including preparing communication materials, undertaking stakeholder interviews and responds to any issues raised.
- preparing briefs and correspondence on complex issues.
- supporting internal and external project reference groups, responding to and managing different views and perspectives.
Qualifications and Experience
The skills and experience you will need to demonstrate include:
- Prior experience in a governance and policy function within a government environment.
- Demonstrable understanding of how Government policies and programs are delivered.
- Proven capability as a self-starter and an ability to effectively undertake work independently.
- Ability to prepare and deliver logical sequential and succinct presentations.
- Good communications skills, including the ability to communicate to a range of audiences and different forms of media.
