The Tiwi Land Council (TLC) was established on the 18 August 1978, following representation by the Tiwi people to the Federal Government for recognition of their distinct geographic and cultural identity.
TLC represents all Tiwi people in the protection of our land, sea, and environment, while at the same time supporting sustainable economic development to improve Tiwi lives through employment, income, education and health opportunities.

Position OverviewTiwi Land Council is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Governance, Risk and Compliance Officer to join the team.
As the Governance, Risk and Compliance Officer you will work closely with the Audit and Risk Committee (ARC) and be responsible for providing high level advice and assistance to the Land Council in implementing strategies to:
- ensure compliance with applicable systems, processes, policies, contracts and legislative obligations,
- entrench good governance practices within the Land Council
- appropriately manage risk; and
- co-ordinate the internal audit activities of the Land Council
The ideal applicant will possess a degree in Commerce, Business or Law and demonstrated work experience in a corporate governance or risk management setting.
Ability to interact respectfully and positively with Traditional Owner's and local members of the community is essential, as is, the willingness to travel to community by light aircraft or ferry.
Ability to deliver training/workshops, will be well regarded.
Must be a holder of a current NT driver's licence and Working With Children Check (Ochre Card).
What's on offerInitially, this position will be a period of 6months (full-time) with the possibility of an extension (dependent on further funding).
