About the Opportunity
The Government Relations Advisor is responsible for supporting the Head of Government Relations, Stakeholder Engagement and Communications through providing timely advice, intelligence and reporting in regard to national government and political developments across the nation, as well as supporting appearances at parliamentary and senate inquires and senate estimates.
The Government Relations Advisor will achieve this through engaging with a network of national, state and local government stakeholders. The position will also support the development and delivery of applicable documents and reports to contribute to ASC’s communications and Government Relations strategy.
About you
- Minimum Bachelor degree qualification in political science, journalism or other relevant discipline.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a political Journalist, Ministerial Advisor, Policy Advisor, Departmental or Parliamentary Liaison Officer, or similar.
- A network of contacts within federal and/or state Government.
- Familiarity with Government and parliamentary protocols, policies and procedures.
- The ability to produce timely, accurate, well written reports and briefing packs.
- The ability to grow and maintain strong and trusted stakeholder relationships.
- The ability to understand, interpret and articulate relevant information and intelligence that may be strategically valuable to ASC.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
- High integrity, discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Politically astute.
- Self-motivated.
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and prioritize accordingly.
Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
