About the Role
This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager - Systems and Electrical, at Tritium PTY Ltd and is based at Murarrie, QLD. The Graduate Electrical Engineer has responsibility for ownership, delivery and documentation of assigned electrical systems form initial concept, verification, and through into production.
The role is part of the Systems and Electrical engineering team, part of the broader new product development. The position is ideal for a recent graduate seeking to gain valuable experience in electrical design within the context of high-power systems for electric vehicle fast chargers. For the right candidate, there are opportunities to work on high power DC electrical systems, power electronics conversion systems, ELV electrical and control systems and more.
Key responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Understand requirements to develop electrical schematics, drawings, and documentation, working closely with systems engineers, harness engineers, and electrical engineers.
- Supporting power systems simulation, fault studies, protection design and coordination, and component selection of high power AC and DC control gear and switchgear.
- Contributing to product development processes such as Requirements Development, DFMEA’s, DVP’s, and risk assessment activities.
- Collaborating within a cross-functional team to ensure insulation coordination and safe power circuit routing within the product.
- Assisting in the development of documentation to support certification and testing activities, including single-line diagrams and sample site designs.
- Supporting the execution of test plans to ensure coverage against a broad range of electrical fault scenarios and to ensure product compliance.
- Collaborating to ensure design solutions are appropriate and meet cost, safety, schedule requirements, and applicable industry standards.
- Assisting in managing key technical supplier relationships to monitor industry trends and support the specification of key componentry.
- Be personally motivated to look for opportunities to up-skill and further improve knowledge and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronic or mechatronics Engineering.
- Either a fresh graduate or someone up to 2 years of experience preferred
- Strong, practical understanding of the aspect’s electrical safety
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and debug complex electrical systems.
- Capacity to adapt to changing project requirements, priorities, and constraints, and to quickly learn and apply new skills and technologies as needed.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate technical concepts and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness to take initiative, propose new ideas, and drive projects forward, while seeking guidance and feedback as needed from mentors and supervisors.
- Basic understanding of electronics design and development.
- Highly motivated and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
