Job description

Our 2 year Graduate Program is part of a broader inter-professional learning program (incorporating nursing), which allows graduates time to consolidate their skills in a supportive environment. We believe in providing support and quality feedback to help graduates develop their skills, confidence and work towards individual learning goals.

  • Part time - Fixed term (0.8 EFT - 64 hours per fortnight) until Feb 2026
  • Positions available for remaining 18 months of 2-year Allied Health Mental Health Graduate Program
  • 1st year — 6 months in an acute inpatient or residential setting 
  • 2nd year — 12 month rotation with a Community Mental Health Team (Footscray or Wyndham area)
  • The structured program incorporates a comprehensive orientation, paid professional development days, discipline specific clinical supervision and reflective practice sessions Discipline-specific clinical supervision embedded within the program
  • Provide quality client-focused care to clients, their family and carers using a holistic, recovery oriented, strength based and culturally sensitive approach.
  • Be part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team, and provide highly responsive and flexible service to consumers and carers

 ABOUT YOU: 

    • You have a keen interest in supporting clients with mental health issues
    • You are enthusiastic, highly motivated to learn and passionate about pursuing your career goals
    • You have good communication skills and work well as part of a team
    • Approved degree in Occupational Therapy and current/pending registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia
    • Current Victorian Driver’s License is required

ABOUT US:

Mercy Mental Health (South West Area Mental Health Service) is a public mental health service supporting people in south west metropolitan Melbourne with severe and complex mental illnesses by providing acute and community-based care. Services are available to adults through acute inpatient programs, residential rehabilitation programs and crisis and community recovery-focused treatment programs. We also deliver inpatient and community specialist perinatal mental health services to women and infants in western Victoria.
