About the Role
This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager (Electronics) at TRITIUM PTY LTD and is based at Murarrie, Brisbane. Graduate PCB Design Engineer has overarching responsibility (ownership) for the End-To-End delivery of all assigned PCB’s, from initial concept all the way through into production, taking into consideration board constraint design guidelines, track design guidelines, thermal issues, signal integrity and RF considerations and guidelines associated with planes or layers.
Consideration of design for mass production and quality is vital for this position. This requires close collaboration between Engineering design team, Mechanical Engineer, Systems Engineer, Harness Engineer and the Advanced Manufacturing Engineer starting right from the concept phase with the goal to design for DFM/DFA, improving cost and quality.
Key responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Understand requirements to create schematics. Work closely with System engineer, harness engineer and mechanical engineers to define board dimensions, location and accessibility.
- Design hardware with re-use in mind across multiple platforms and standardising components where feasible.
- Design, place and layout PCB per Tritium’s design and review documentation.
- Work closely with team to capture test points, clearances, pitch and other attributes.
- Creating ATE test jigs PCBs, test cases and supporting factory test documentation.
- Collaborate and communicate with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding project progress, and task tracking.
- Support in the build, test and debug of prototype PCBA.
- Package and ship test jig to Tritium’s various suppliers and sites.
- Creation, maintenance and review of Altium component libraries per IPC standards.
- Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors.
- Maintain awareness of standards that may be applicable to Tritium products.
- Maintain an ongoing awareness of emerging technologies and competitor threats.
- Analyse technology research at the early stages of new product development and assess for factor, fit for purpose as well as DFM & DFA requirements.
- Actively engage with key internal and external stakeholders to understand the business strategy, know the business domain, actively identify impacts on people and process and ensure they are highlighted within the project.
- Create and maintain adequate product documentation.
- Attend and actively participate in meetings as required. You will need to be able to provide relevant technical information, including relevant standards, identified issues, design constraints and design opportunities. Keep accurate notes to enable action of assigned tasks.
- Work in accordance with the established Business Plan and Standard Operating Procedures under the direction of the Heads of commodities to ensure that all activities related to your assigned projects are performed in an effective, professional and timely manner.
- Develop and grow the businesses reputation and always act promptly to up-hold the businesses reputation.
- Liaise with all clients in a professional and courteous manner with a view to improving Tritium’s reputation within the industry and increasing business opportunities.
- Work as a team member by assisting other areas of the business when required or as directed by any member of Senior Leadership Team.
- Work within ISO9001 Quality standards;
- Adhere to the Tritium WHS policy and procedures.
- Electrical/Electronic Engineering Degree
- Either a fresh graduate or someone up to 2 years of experience preferred
- Demonstratable schematic and PCB design experience
- Altium Designer Experience
- Problem-solving skills and good initiative
- Sound decision making ability,
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Highly motivated and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
