Graduate Structural Engineer - Blade (July 2024 Start)

We are seeking applications from graduates who have recently completed their tertiary study in Mechanical, Aerospace or Structural Engineering with a focus on composite materials and structural analysis. This Graduate Structural Engineer opportunity will be based in our Melbourne office and commencing July 2024. You will work closely with the Blade Manager on wind turbine blade maintenance and project development. This is an excellent opportunity to work in renewable energy providing technical blade support across our wind farm portfolio.

What you’ll do

• Work closely with the blade manager and supervisor on wind turbine blade maintenance and project development.
• Coordinate with subcontractors on blade inspection execution using drones, review drone inspection results, and generate inspection reports.
• Develop blade asset condition assessment report and repair suggestions.
• Analysis on blade defects and damage and develop structural & non-structural repair plan for wind turbine blades. 
• Collaborate with blade supervisor and blade technicians on the execution of blade inspection & repair work.
• Provide technical support to other wind farm team members on blades.

 What you’ll have

• Be technically inquisitive
• Proficiency in FEA structural analysis software tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus and CAD software is a plus
• Knowledge of blade materials and structure, repair methods and manufacturing processes is desirable
• Knowledge of drone inspection on wind turbine blades is desirable
• Possess strong leadership skills
• Can work independently and in a team to learn from another perspective
• Communicate exceptionally well
• Ask questions and challenge the norm
• Be able to commence now and make a longer-term commitment
• Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or an Australian permanent resident
