The JBS Brooklyn Graduate Health and Safety Officer position is an 18-month program consisting of 3 rotations aimed at developing both technical Health and Safety skills and leadership capability to enable progression to more senior roles.
You will be based at our Culture and Innovation Centre and report directly to the Safety Manager. The Graduate program will expose you to the role of the Health and Safety professional in key departments of JBS Brooklyn through 3 rotations across:
- Cold Stores, Engineering and Render Operations
- Lamb and Value Add Operations
- Beef and Livestock Operations
Our structured program includes site-specific, corporate and industry-based training in a way that allows you to have the freedom to explore all aspects of Health and Safety in our plant. We also provide you the support, mentoring, training and tools you need to develop into a high performing Health and Safety professional.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Assist in the improvement and integration of the JBS Safety Management System across Brooklyn.
- Identify and deliver a safety improvement project in each rotation of the program.
- Participate in or lead incident, hazard and/or near-miss investigations and closing out corrective actions.
- Participate in safety activities within Plant operations, including plant and process hazard identification, risk assessments, risk control, workplace inspections and audits, etc.
- Assist and /or Develop and deliver topic specific safety training and toolbox talks as required
- Develop and manage the Brooklyn Safety Championship Program
- Assist in the collection, analyses and presentation of Safety Dashboard data for daily and weekly meetings.
About you:
- Final year or recent graduate in Workplace Health and Safety, Human Resources, Human Factors or Psychology degree or post grad qualification in any of these areas

- Demonstrated computer literacy and exposure to WHS digital applications.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Energetic, passionate and enthusiastic with a demonstrated focus on safe plant, process and people improvement
