Outback Futures (OBF) is a not-for-profit organisation contributing to thriving bush communities. We provide mental health, wellbeing, and allied health services to rural and remote communities in Queensland. We’ve been serving bush communities for over 10 years, with a dynamic model of care that involves allied health telehealth and face to face community clinics, alongside community health and wellbeing facilitation.

The role:
This role is an opportunity to contribute your Graphic Design and marketing skills to all aspects of external communication with Outback Futures clients and stakeholders. We are seeking someone with strong Graphic Design skills who can confidently create content across all our communications channels, including socials, web, EDMs, event collateral, and fundraising campaigns.
We are seeking someone who is looking for a 3, 4 or 5 day a week role, and we will adjust the position description based on skillset and part-time/full-time availability.
Key tasks and responsibilities include:
- Creating visual content which effectively communicates with impact across our online platforms, including socials, website, EDMs
- Designing collateral that both looks good and communicates well - including info cards, brochures, reports, posters, and fundraising campaigns
- Creating content that maintains our corporate brand identity, and updating our branding as our organisation evolves
- Creating and project managing a range of marketing activities, including scheduling social posts and ads, EDMs, web and blog posts, printed collateral, promotional items
- Creating some video content for our corporate, fundraising, and community stakeholders; and coordinating with contractors for larger video projects
- Maintaining our photo and video storage systems
- Contributing to our team as we concept and design new initiatives and projects, and be open to developing skills as opportunities arise
- Building positive connections with external service providers, including printers, designers, agencies, consultants, contractors
- Positively contributing to our Communications team as we collaborate and work together to achieve outcomes
- Contributing to the wider Outback Futures team both functionally and relationally, and to the culture of our organisation
Role requirements:
- appropriate qualifications in Graphic Design, marketing, and/or communications
- at least 3 years experience in a similar role
- a heart for our outback communities, and a resonance with the vision and mission of Outback Futures
- skilled in combining images and words to communicate effectively with a diverse range of audiences
- flexible and can work creatively within the resources (time, equipment, budget) we have available
- proficiency in Adobe Illustrator; working knowledge or willingness to learn Wordpress and Canva
- comfortable using Microsoft 365 (specifically Teams, Planner and Sharepoint), or capacity to quickly learn new skills
- willingness to give something a go and enjoys trying new ideas
- good interpersonal skills and enjoys contributing to a collaborative team environment
- good balance between taking direction and exercising initiative
- reliable, and can self-manage to achieve individual and team deliverables and outcomes
- work as part of a hybrid work environment (work at our Brisbane office, with options to work some days at home) – and stay connected with team members both online and in-person
- travel to our outback Queensland communities 1-2 times per year (up to 5 days per trip) and participate in 4 team days per year in Brisbane
