Job description

To be successful in this position you will be an agile, conceptual and passionate creative with experience in both print and digital graphic design. The role is dynamic and fast paced and requires strong layout and typographic skills and advanced literacy across the Adobe Creative Suite. The APS6 Graphic Designer reports directly to the Publishing Manager and collaborates to deliver books, magazines, 2D exhibition design and a range of marketing, educational, digital and corporate materials, as well as working with printers and suppliers on production and delivery.
The key duties of the position include:Specific Tasks
Be the brand custodian of NPG, ensuring the visual identity of the Gallery is clear and consistent across all internal and external collateral.
Work collaboratively with the marketing team to develop and deliver marketing campaigns that are clever, impactful and on-brand.
Engage across teams to find the best design solutions for engaging with our audiences. This will include exhibition signage, directional signage and wayfinding, digital signage and event communications.
Design publications (including books and magazines) and manage the production process from ideation through to print.
Collaborate with the Access and Learning and Curatorial teams to develop complimentary material for public programs and educational experiences.
Work in partnership with the Exhibitions team to provide 2D design advice and production support for exhibition graphics and associated materials.
Ensure all of our corporate documents are up-to-date and on-brand.
Help design and deliver NPG brand merchandise that will help us build our brand and connect to our audiences.
Eligibility
Qualifications and demonstrated skills and experience in graphic design, including knowledge and experience of relevant graphic design software (Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat Professional).
Demonstrated experience in all elements of local and offshore print production processes, finished artwork and typographic design.
Demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities, work under pressure and meet agreed deadlines.
Well-developed interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills with a focus on the delivery of a high standard of client service to a diverse client group.
Experience of working in a gallery/museum environment is desirable with exhibition design skills an advantage. Previous experience in publishing also highly regarded.
