Lead the change, from the frontline
Based in Brisbane, the Grid Compliance Engineer will contribute to the success of Shell Energy’s generation and production interests by providing engineering and technical assistance for both the grid connection and alteration of renewable (solar and wind) and firming (storage and gas generation) assets. The Grid Compliance Engineer will also provide ongoing operations support and ensure compliance with generator technical performance standards; by developing, implementing, and overseeing the necessary generator compliance monitoring programs.
With honesty, integrity and respect, you will:
- Act as the technical lead for generator performance standards (GPS) negotiation and Network Service Provider (NSP) requirements;
- Undertake management of grid connection deliverables and scoping / managing of tasks required to be conducted by consultants;
- Develop, maintain and provide ongoing technical support to GPS compliance monitoring programs and frameworks at Shell Energy;
- Coordinate, conduct and /or oversee generator compliance tests and compliance assessments;
- Provide Support and technical advice for FCAS/FCESS registration and monitor for ongoing compliance.
- Provide Engineering technical support and advice, within area of expertise, to operating sites.
Here’s what you’ll need to thrive in this role:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in an engineering discipline;
- Extensive experience within the power or renewable energy industry and knowledge of the power generation competitive landscape, market rules, regulations and players;
- Significant knowledge of generator grid-connection and alteration processes and a proven track record of obtaining connection approvals from AEMO;
- A solid technical understanding of generating plant and power systems; particularly in relation to generator performance standard requirements (specific knowledge of BESS would be advantageous);
- Experience working on / supporting power generation sites and undertaking compliance performance testing / compliance assessment of generating plant (preferred);
- Demonstrated stakeholder management capabilities, including the ability to be tactful and sensitive and ensure the appropriate tone, method and frequency of communication;
- Experience in sourcing, building, and managing industry and customer relationships with a high level of interpersonal and negotiation skills;
- Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy;
- Excellent oral and written communications skills;
- A willingness to visit the sites regularly as required.
