The Company

Our client, a widely recognised multinational conglomerate with renewable energy operations in Australia, US, Canada, Asia, and Europe, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grid Connection / Power Systems Manager.

With the Head Office based in Sydney, this hybrid position can be based anywhere in NSW, QLD or VIC with travel expected to sites if required.

The Role

Reporting to the Managing Director and with a focus on the early-stage development approval process for renewables projects,

this role will be instrumental in ensuring a smooth transition from the initial connection enquiry (R0), documentation & compliance, to the submittal and approval of GPS Packages.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Oversee and facilitate the due diligence process & feasibility assessments regarding R0 Grid Connection actions and deliverables for multiple projects.
• Assist the development team in pinpointing prospective Solar, BESS or Hybrid projects, evaluating their feasibility through site assessments including irradiance, land availability, and proximity as well as technical analyses such as grid constraints.
• Facilitate external stakeholder engagement with Network Service Providers (NSP's), navigating the initial connection enquiry from preliminary agreements, technical specifications & documentation to formal submission of GPS packages.
• Provide technical support to the development team in securing necessary Grid Connection approvals and agreements with NSP's, AEMO and regulatory bodies.
• Cultivate positive relationships with NSP's and AEMO, ensuring a streamlined process for current and future projects.
• Keeping abreast of regulatory guidelines and compliance standards in relation to the Grid Connection process.
• Support the Development Manager and Land Acquisition team for the EPC & OEM selection process.

Your Profile

The preferred candidate will have gained meaningful experience in the renewable energy space, with demonstrated experience in multiple successful GPS package submissions for large-scale Solar and/or BESS storage projects.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of obtaining Grid Connection approvals connecting systems over 30MW + within NEM (WEM experience is a plus) in Australia. A strong understanding of the legal and compliance standards within the (NEM) is crucial for this role.

Additionally:

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• Solid knowledge of GPS submissions requirements.
• Experience of successfully delivering R0 packages.
• Strong project management and negotiation skills.
• Familiarity with power system software packages, including Powerfactory, PSS/E, PASCAD, PVSyst, and AutoCAD is preferred.
