About this Project
Riverlea is the South Australia’s largest master planned community. Previously known as the Buckland Park development, it will have homes for 30,000 people, shops, a business hub, 50ha of lakes, 420ha of open space and four schools. It is predicted $3bn will be invested over 20 years and 10,000 jobs created during the development.
The Opportunity
Riverlea's growth has created an exciting opportunity for a Ground and Maintenance Specialist. This role has been created to oversee the premium presentation and Maintenance of the Riverlea Development. The role will involve leading and motivating field staff to consistently deliver excellence on a daily basis whilst fostering positive interactions with both internal and external stakeholders.
Here's what you'll focus on
- Maintain the presentation of the Riverlea grounds to the highest standards
- Plan and schedule regular maintenance activities
- Conduct routine audits of areas under management
- Monitor, test, report and repair irrigation systems. Ensure efficient watering of managed areas
- Assists in the training and/or supervision of employees, including apprentices
- Identify and treat pests and diseases
- Test and report on field equipment, pumping and lighting
- Tree and nursery management, including pruning, watering, fertilising and spraying
- Safely operate hand and power tools including machinery
- Forecast monthly expenditure and provide relevant reporting
- Facilitate the stage handover process to local authorities
- Maintains records, site diary, stock control and forecast potential requirements
- Plans the work program in consultation with management
- Identify and meet sustainability and environmental responsibilities relating to the tasks/role as specified in Walker’s environmental policies and practices

- Possesses a strong customer service focus with an ability to build rapport and confidently communicate with all stakeholders
- Relevant trade qualification or professional trade experience in horticulture, turf management or grounds keeping is desirable
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar role
- Demonstrated experience in grounds machinery and equipment
- Chemical licence an advantage
- Current valid driver’s license
- First Aid Certificate or willingness to attain
- Holds a General Induction for Construction Work (White card) or willingness to attain
- Has a sound understanding of programming, WHS, workplace and people risks
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
