We have an exciting opportunity for a leading Sustainability expert to join the team in Sydney as the Group Environmental Sustainability Manager.
The Opportunity - About the Role
In this role you will be an active member of the Sustainability Leadership Team responsible for leading the engagement and delivery of the Environmental Sustainability focus areas and targets of the Stockland ESG Strategy. You will be a thought leader and will develop strategic and collaborative partnerships across the business to ensure the successful execution of the strategy in the pursuit of a Better Way to Live.
Daily responsibilities will include:
- Lead and drive the development of the relevant strategic approaches and frameworks to deliver on the environmental focus area of the ESG Strategy.
- Provide the business with thought leadership on key areas of environmental focus i.e. net zero carbon, science-based targets, scope 3 emissions, climate resilience, electrification, embodied carbon, circular economy, water and biodiversity etc.
- Provide expertise, strategic guidance and partner with the business to ensure the delivery of Environmental Sustainability outcomes across Group and all business units.
- Engage and collaborate (with key stakeholders and broader sustainability team) on identifying emerging and future environmental goals, priorities and initiatives. Identify key opportunities and drive the implementation and execution of these opportunities within the various business units and key projects across organisation.
- Lead and drive the development and implementation of the Stockland Decarbonisation Delivery Strategy together with the Biodiversity Strategy.
- Guide resourcing, specialist skills, and subject matter expertise to support business and projects in delivery of environmental priorities and initiatives to support the ESG Strategy execution.
- Champion internal and external engagement at all levels, to support ongoing focus on sustainability and build recognition and support for Stockland's efforts.
- Provide input and support to the GM Sustainability on key executive, governance and leadership engagement i.e. Board papers, presentations, reports.
- Contribute to ESG and mandatory climate disclosures including industry benchmarks and all reporting requirements including DJSI, GRESB, NGERS, CEFC, WGBC, CRREM, Annual Integrated Report and relevant Sustainability content.
- Work closely with key stakeholders to generate insights and maximise the environmental benefits for Stockland, our customers and communities through our strategic approach to sustainability & community partnerships to remain best in class.
About You
- Superior sustainability literacy, demonstrated working knowledge of key Environmental Sustainability issues and trends (both current and emerging) for the property sector.
- Demonstrated ability to translate priority sustainability actions into business and customer value through a customer centric lens.
- Experience in executing strategy in partnership with a diverse range of stakeholders with varying expectations and business drivers.
- Experience leading outcomes across a complex Enterprise and set of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in leading a high performing team that contributes to positive Environmental Sustainability outcomes for an organisation and its stakeholders.
- Exceptional self-leadership skills with the capacity to demonstrate and promote a growth mindset.
- Strong collaboration, influencing and motivation skills, with capacity to inspire change.
- Superior communications and project management skills.
- Strong commercial acumen, systems and critical thinking and attention to detail.
- Accountability, with demonstrated track record of successful delivery across both team and individual members.
