We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Group Financial Controller to lead our accounting and financial functions, ensuring the financial performance of the Group is meticulously monitored and accurately recorded to meet both internal and external requirements.
Job Description:
As the Group Financial Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial activities of the group. Your key responsibilities will be as below:
Key Role Requirements:
→Leadership and Management:
- Lead the accounting function, improving performance and accountability.
- Support the financial requirements of the business by assisting in the preparation of management and financial reports for the CEO and CFO.
- Provide detailed analysis of business performance, identifying areas of risk and opportunity.
- Develop, track, and manage the continual improvement of KPIs across the business.
- Drive process improvement, transformation, and system upgrades.
→Financial Reporting, Tax and Analysis:
- Perform financial modelling, forecasting, and analysis.
- Ensure annual budgets and all other financial reports are prepared as required.
- Provide interpretations and recommendations on financial performance and budget variances.
- Prepare and present quarterly management accounts to the CEO and CFO.
- Ensure audited financial statements and consolidated income tax returns are prepared and lodged on time.
→Compliance and Control:
- Maintain effective financial controls over cash control, capital expenditure, and investments.
- Ensure compliance with AASB standards and company financial policies.
- Review and maintain internal audit procedures and policies.
- Ensure all financial transactions are captured correctly and on time.
→Cash Flow and Treasury Management:
- Manage the day-to-day cash flow forecast and bank relationships.
- Manage annual insurance reviews.
- Ensure all loan facilities are monitored and debt ratios maintained.
→Payroll and Accounts Management:
- Oversee payroll management, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
- Ensure all staff are paid in accordance with industry standards and agreements.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely payments and collections.
→System Development and Management:
- Ensure all accounting and operational data is backed up and that IT systems are functional and secure.
- Implement new reporting systems to enhance the efficiency of financial and non-financial information preparation.
→Livestock and Inventory Management:
- Ensure all livestock and inventory data are reconciled and up to date.
- Maintain accurate records for livestock and agricultural operations.
→External Relationships:
- Maintain relationships with key external contacts, including tax agents, auditors, banks, lawyers, customers, suppliers, and share brokers.
Candidate Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in accounting, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant or CPA with current full membership.
- Confident financial leadership experience, ideally in financial control or senior leadership roles.
- Experience in the relevant sectors and/or family office environment is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial reporting, forecasting, and budget management within a fast-growing organization.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel (Advanced level) and other MS Office Suite applications.
- Experience using Xero Accounting software.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Knowledge of system development and maintenance.
- Ability to work as a team player with the agricultural team on farms, assisting in the implementation of policies and procedures.
