The role:
The Group IT Manager manages a small team and reports into the Chief Operating Officer and has responsibility for the secure and effective operation of all computer systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, software, and hardware within the group.
The Group IT Manager will also lead key projects in partnership with the executive team and other related stakeholders regarding the improvement, upgrade and replacement of existing systems, infrastructure and processes.
Within the role you will be exposed to, and have responsibility for:
- Evaluating the functionality of systems for business use & the selection and purchase of appropriate hardware and software
- Management of IT budgets and management of IT hardware systems including systematic replacement of hardware for “business critical’ systems
- Ensuring software licensing laws are followed
- Managing the security, integrity & backup procedures in place and assess them for areas of vulnerability
- Lead IT projects, including the design & deployment of new IT systems and services as and when required
- Monitoring performance of information technology systems to determine cost and productivity levels, and to make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure
- Helping define IT & IS infrastructure strategy, architecture, and processes
- Analysing business requirements with key stakeholders across the organisation to develop solutions for IT / IS needs
- Managing secure network access for remote users
- Scheduling upgrades and ensuring their seamless delivery, minimalising business impact
- Assessing vendors and developing test strategies for new hardware and software
- Develop individual staff development plans for each staff member, in consultation with the HR Manager, and use these to ensure staff engagement
Your key to success:
You will hold a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field and have a minimum of 5 years' experience in IT Management, with experience and expertise pertaining to leading and managing IT projects and rolling out IT infrastructures across various technologies.
Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills are matched by your ability to communicate and manage the expectations of the stakeholders you engage with (within head office, and those working in other locations). Managing competing timelines and associated expectations is critical in this role.
This is a senior role within the group which requires someone who can work in a hands-on manner when required. Experience and expertise with implementing, configuring, and testing solutions is key, as is your desire to use IT systems to drive business operational benefits to the group.
