Located in Central Western Queensland, covering 53,935 square kilometres and with a population of 1150, Winton has an iconic and unique heritage while also undergoing several key development initiatives that will help ensure a long-term sustainable and bright future for the region, its communities and residents.
Reporting directly to and supporting the Director of Works, you will lead and coordinate the Works Department and its civil engineering maintenance and construction activities including all aspects of Roads (rural and urban), Footpaths, Concrete Works, Stormwater Drainage, and Parks & Facilities. There will also be a specific focus on instilling a team culture based on customer-focus and a genuine commitment to excellence.
With significant experience in Engineering and Civil Construction within Local Government, Roadtek or TMR you will have a thorough knowledge of design and construction practices as they relate to municipal projects such as roads and streets; stormwater drainage design and principals; local area traffic management techniques; project planning, costing, budgeting and staff supervision; contract management including specification and tender document preparation; asset management and substantial relevant experience in municipal works and utility services management. As a hands-on leader you thrive on the challenge of leading teams across complex, multi-faceted projects that deliver positive, customer-centric outcomes.
Tertiary qualifications in project management are desirable however extensive experience and/or related project management expertise will be highly regarded, as is the requirement to hold or willingness to obtain a Construction White Card.
