Perseus Mining Limited is a dual listed (ASX/TSX) gold miner, developer, and explorer whose activities are focused on the African continent. The Perseus Group operates three gold mines: the Edikan Gold Mine in Ghana, and the Sissingué and Yaouré Gold Mines in Côte d'Ivoire. The Business Growth Team is also active in the development of the Block 14 Gold Project in Sudan. The Perseus Group has exploration projects in Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana and Sudan and is continuing to explore other African regions, with an ongoing requirement to evaluate projects in order to make informed, value accretive decisions for Perseus.
Perseus is implementing a growth strategy designed to maintain the Perseus Group as a 500,000-ounce per year gold producer from 3-4 mines with a 10-year mine life.
The Role
The role will support the long-term planning and study activities (including M&A) by undertaking and leading Mining Engineering functions, specifically open pit optimisation, mine design and scheduling for Perseus Mining at a corporate level.
The role will oversee and manage corporate inputs to mining schedules for annual Life of Mine (LOM) and budget activities for each site. The role will also manage the planning input (costs, recoveries, mining and processing rates) assumptions for LOM and Ore Reserves to facilitate transparent and auditable decision making.
This role will increase consistency and auditability of business planning inputs building the capability of Perseus in evaluating target projects and companies.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of the Mining Engineering component of Long-Term plans and Studies across the Company
- Provide recommendations for the optimal mining and processing scheduling strategies across sites, to support growth projects.
- Support implementation of Mining Engineering plans ensuring outcomes are achieved.
- Ensuring Mining Engineering processes meet technical standards (JORC and NI43-101 requirements).
- Liaise with other areas of the business such as Operations and Finance to ensure sufficient information is gathered for optimal decision making.
Skills & Experience
- Min. 15 years relevant mining experience in the mining industry.
- Experience in Mining Engineering block model manipulation of linear and non-linear models.
- Expertise in the systematic completion of technical studies.
- Expertise in a mining optimisation scheduling software such as Minemax Scheduler.
- Expertise in a mining pit optimisation software such as Whittle.
- Expertise in a mining design software such as Surpac, Deswik or Minesight.
- Expertise in mine and infrastructure design, including stockpiles and waste dumps.
- Experience in managing others to achieve mine planning-based outcomes.
- Capability to manage and prioritise multiple activities concurrently to deliver business outcomes.
- Broad knowledge of mine geology and resource estimation.
- Autonomy and accountability in delivering Mining schedules and designs.
- Experience in managing and working with diverse nationalities and cultures to achieve Mining Engineering outcomes.
- Post-graduate qualification in financial or other mining-related discipline.

This position is based in Perseus’s Subiaco office, with a corporate team of roughly 40 employees and growing. Having a small corporate team allows for close interactions across all departments and levels of the business.
