Aquatic Centres
Bayside Council currently operates two Aquatic Centres, Angelo Anestis Aquatic Centre (Bexley) and Botany Aquatic Centre. Angelo Anestis Aquatic Centre was opened in 2016 after undergoing a major redevelopment. The Centre includes an indoor and outdoor pool, grandstand, gym and group fitness spaces, community and retail spaces, kiosk, and aqua play facilities.
About the Role
Reporting to the Gym and Fitness Coordinator, this role is responsible for the education, instruction and integration of members and Health Club users into associated programs, the supervision of patrons using the gym facilities, and providing assistance and advice for groups and individuals to improve overall health and wellbeing.
These positions are based at Angelo Anestis Aquatic Centre however, the successful candidate may be required to support Botany Aquatic Centre as needed. The role may be able to work up to 38 hours per week subject to availability of shifts.
You can also expect to:
- Proactively supervise the gymnasium, coach technique and educate individuals using the equipment.
- Assist new and current members on their health and fitness journey by engaging with members, seeking feedback, conducting fitness assessments and writing personal exercise programs.
- Conduct individual and group training sessions in line with centre programs, schedules, and timetables.
- Ensure regular and proper maintenance of health club equipment and facilities is maintained by implementing maintenance audits and schedules and reporting and escalating issues are required.
- Implement operational systems and procedures to ensure all venue operational requirements are met and maintain high standards of service delivery, venue presentation, safety, and security.
- Carry out emergency response activities and plans in line with the Centre's Emergency Management response plans.
- Ensure that all assets/supplies are stored securely and properly accounted for.
- Ensure the sanitation and cleanliness of the health club equipment and facilities is maintained to the highest standards.
- Ensure Child Safe Practices and procedures are implemented and complied with to mitigate risks.
- Ensure potential safety issues which may cause injury or illness to staff or patrons are addressed or reported immediately.
- Liaise with other work areas to provide and seek information relative to daily operations of the Centre.
- Respond to customer requests and/or complaints in a timely and professional manner.
About You
We are looking for a someone who has:
- Certificate Ill in Fitness (Gym Instructor).
- Certificate IV in Fitness.
- Registered fitness professional.
- Ability to undertake group instruction classes.
- Experience in developing, administering, and leading fitness programs.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Current Working with Children Check (NSW).
- Excellent customer service skills and experience.
- Ability to work mornings, evenings, and weekends. However, commencing and finishing times will be flexible and depend on operational needs. Ability to work flexibly is essential.

Salary range: $33.40 to $37.40 per hour, plus 11% superannuation (weekend penalty rates apply)
