AWH – Facilities and Maintenance Services (F&MS) requires a Handyperson (Trade Qualified) to join our facilities and maintenance services team. The position involves conducting scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks on a range of hospital equipment, mechanical services and plant. This role will be worked in a 9 day fortnight capacity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out routine repairs, maintenance, replacement and inspections of mechanical services, plant and equipment in accordance with relevant trade competencies at all AWH sites and facilities.
- Relieve other trade staff (commensurate with competencies/qualifications) positions within the F&MS team.
- Carryout or assist other trade staff with minor repairs to buildings, plant and equipment as directed.
- Carryout or assist other trade staff in the delivery of preventative and corrective maintenance services.
- Take regular energy, buildings, plant and equipment readings and monitor plant performance.
- Undertake general delivery duties and collect and deliver equipment and materials.
- Maintain plant, office area, plant rooms and workshop in neat, tidy and safe condition.
- Conduct regular and detailed clean-ups of workshop areas including spare parts, consumables, materials and storage work areas.
- Maintain engineering support motor vehicles in a neat and tidy condition and report any defects.
- Maintain department store and consumables and advise when restocking is required.
- Conduct basic inspections (using checklists) of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) compliance/risks in F&MS area.
- Sign-in contractors, provide AWH Contractor Passes and Access Keys and escort contractors and visitors on site.
- Support emergency management preparedness and responses as required.
- Carryout a range of other general tasks that fall within the F&MS department’s area of responsibility to support hospital operations across all Albury Wodonga health sites / cross border.
- Participate in the On Call Roster and Out-of-Hours emergency work as and when required to do so, and be available to work overtime as the need arises.
Mandatory Criteria:
- Current NSW/VIC Trade Qualification (as listed in Public Health Services Employees Skilled Trade (NSW State) Award.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake minor mechanical repairs to plant, equipment and buildings utilising both trade and non-trade skills and competencies.
- Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised and meet work schedules and programs.
- Ability to perform a multitude of physical tasks that include carrying loads, pushing and pulling trolleys, ladder access and working in unusual positions for short periods such as working overhead.
- Ability to be mobile across all areas of the campuses including ladder access to plant rooms and other difficult to access areas such as ceiling spaces, roofs and roof spaces.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely in a trade related environment and to be able to follow instruction on all safety related issues.
- A Current Drivers Licence is essential.
