Nestled in the heart of St Kilda, Jimmy O'Neill's presents a contemporary take on the Irish pub concept, our mix of modern Australian goes hand in hand with our beloved traditional Irish dishes. Our culinary focus centres on the use of fresh ingredients and locally sourced produce. As a bustling venue with a sister venue in the nearby Chapel Street there is ample growth potential.
The Role
The Head Chef will be responsible for:
Designing and implementing new menus, leading and managing a team of 15 and ensuring high standards of food quality and service. Overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, including stock management and supplier relationships. Maintaining food safety and hygiene standards and collaborating with the management team to drive the club's culinary success.
Job tasks and responsibilities
The job will be a hands on role delivering consistency and the successful candidate will have good time management and communication skills .
The successful candidate will be need to be a team player need to demonstrate the following ;
- Passionate about food & a good knowledge of local food trends as well as some knowledge of traditional Irish/European cuisine
- Competency in menu writing & creation
- Good knowledge of kitchen hygiene & HACCP requirements
- Good knowledge of kitchen budgeting
- Social media content creation
Skills and experience
We also operate outside catering from time to time, so you may be required to work outside the venue at large events when required.
- The right candidate would need to have 2 years in a similar role
- Hiring all positions in relation to the kitchen
- Preferably previously worked in an Irish pub or similar
- Good communication skills
- Hands on role, delivering a consistent and outstanding dining experience
- You will be adept at running a busy service
- You will be creative and contribute to menu ideas
- You will guide and teach junior team members
- You will establish a strong and positive relationship with FOH
- You will oversee all WH&S procedures and uphold food safety standard
