Queen's College Melbourne, one of the four founding residential colleges affiliated with the University of Melbourne, has been a prominent institution since its establishment in 1887. Situated on College Crescent adjacent to the University, the College embraces values of inclusivity and diversity, catering to students of all faiths and backgrounds. Today, the College is operated by Queen's College Melbourne Ltd, a company limited by guarantee, with the Uniting Church of Australia, Synod of Victoria and Tasmania as its sole member.
The Role
Commencing in January 2025 as Head of College, you will assume a crucial leadership role enhancing the quality and experience of the academic learning community, elevating the College's standing among alumni (the Wyverns), the University of Melbourne, and the broader community, and ensuring its long-term sustainability.
The Head of College is entrusted with overarching responsibilities spanning academic, pastoral, commercial, and community leadership. This role encompasses the development and execution of the College's Strategic Plan, efficient management of financial, physical, and personnel resources, and oversight of budgetary processes and strategic risk management practices.
You will lead the executive team comprising the Dean and Deputy Head, Chief Operating Officer and Director of Advancement with a total staff complement of approximately 35 FTE. The student cohort comprises 300 students, all living in and many experiencing their first time living away from home.
Academically, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the selection of students, the appointment of tutors and the award of scholarships, as well as fostering academic excellence and leading intellectual programs, including the College’s Sugden Institute's exploration of contemporary public issues.
Your pastoral responsibilities will involve liaising with student clubs and societies, actively participating in daily student life, and supporting diversity initiatives. Externally, you will be the College's advocate, representing it in various forums, leading philanthropic and advancement activities, and engaging with donors and alumni.

The vision includes a focus on Indigenous and less privileged students, a sustainable and energy-efficient campus, and financial sustainability achieved through philanthropy and advancement.
