This unique position operates out of Far North Queensland Cairns Regional Office and services schools in the Cape and Torres Strait.
While the position is orientated around Principal led school support, it will work collaboratively with the relevant business partner in the Region. This position may require frequent travel to schools in the Cape and Torres Strait.
The management support for this position will be jointly undertaken between the Partnership Initiative and the nominated principals who are contributing funding.

The Head of Department (Digital Learning) operates out of the Cairns Far North QueenslandRegional Office and services schools in the Cape and Torres Strait including Tagai State College; Northern Peninsula Area College; Aurukun State School, Kowanyama State School and Lockhart State School. This position may require frequent travel to schools remote in the Cape and Torres Strait. The management support for this position will be jointly undertaken between the Partnership Initiative and Principals contributing funding.
The responsibilities of this position include:
- Build local capability across the schools to effectively utilise IT in the classroom.
- Support principals to investigate and develop solutions for school IT related issues and the delivery of digital initiatives of the Department.
- Assist principals to problem-solve complex IT issues.
- Ascertain and track existing IT challenges through the completion and ongoing monitoring of an audit of serviceability and hardware in each school.
- In collaboration with the FNR IT Customer Manager, prepare and present a regular report to the Cape York and Torres Straits Advisory Group regarding the current state of digital learning implementation.
- Escalate systemic issues common across schools, through the Partnership Initiative tracking and escalation pathway.
- In collaboration with principals and the Partnership Initiative, establish and implement a sustainable model of technical support to enable the delivery of digital learning.
- Lead curriculum focus in line with school and departmental initiatives
- Participate in delivering the vision of State Schools Division
- Develop the quality of teaching and learning
- Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders.
