The Role

The Head of EPMO is a foundational role responsible for leading a greenfield EPMO function including the development of all processes, methodologies, governance, and standards. This newly created position will play a critical role in the monitoring and reporting of our portfolio and aligning it with the delivery of TasWater’s Strategy.

Leadership of this greenfield function will include:

  • Define the EPMO operating model including the design and implementation of a fit for purpose enterprise portfolio, program and project management methodology, and the development of reporting, standards and tools.
  • Work closely with TasWater’s Executive team, providing guidance and assurance on the feasibility and desirability of projects against TasWater’s Strategy, and supporting planning and decision making around project commencement and sequencing.
  • Develop and implement reporting mechanisms which ensure visibility of project status, performance, issues, risks, change management and operational readiness and tracking of benefits realisation.
  • Act as a mentor and coach to project delivery teams, identifying opportunities to enhance the maturity of program and project management within TasWater.

What we're looking for

Due to the foundational nature of this role, we require a pragmatic leader who has experience building a successful EPMO from a greenfield state in a complex organisation. You will work closely with our ELT which will require you to build and nurture relationships whilst effectively communicating the EPMO’s role and value proposition.

To be successful we’re looking for the following experience:

  • A strategic leader who has defined and built an EPMO operating model and delivered it in line with a company strategy.
  • A pragmatic approach with the ability to balance the delivery of EPMO methodology and frameworks with real-world scenarios, and to a broad stakeholder group.
  • The ability to deliver and translate a complex and newly created EPMO into a business function that is easily adoptable and actionable by a broad stakeholder group.
  • An expert in project change management, and operational readiness methodologies with relevant project, program and/or portfolio management qualifications.
