Great things start here

RACV has a strong safety culture and is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our staff, contractors and customers.

We have an opportunity for a dynamic Health, Safety and Wellbeing leader looking to grow their experience across a wide range of operations including hospitality, roadside services, contact centres, towing & transport, solar installation, and home trades.

Key to your success will be strong stakeholder engagement utilising excellent interpersonal skills and being able to balance strategic thinking with operational execution.

About the Opportunity

As the Head of Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW), reporting to the Executive General Manager Safety, People, Risk and Legal, you’ll provide subject matter expertise to the RACV Group including the Executive Team and the Board.

This could be just the right role for you

You will be accountable for the development and implementation of strategies to effectively manage HSW compliance and continuously improve HSW performance within the RACV Group.

Key responsibilities

  • Having direct HSW responsibility for RACV whilst ensuring alignment of HSW strategy and culture across the RACV Group
  • Ensuring frameworks, policies, systems, and tools are in place to effectively manage HSW risk and comply with regulatory requirements
  • Achieving ISO45001 compliance
  • Continually improving the RACV safety management system
  • Overseeing the HSW internal audit assessment program
  • Setting and reporting on HSW metrics and improvement plans
  • Provision of advice and assistance to RACV Subsidiaries and Associates
  • Overseeing effective Early Intervention, Return-to-Work and Workers Compensation management programs
  • Maintaining RACV’s WorkCover self-insurance status in Victoria
  • Coordinating the “Healthy Me at RACV” wellbeing program
  • Leading a skilled and experienced HSW team

What you’ll need to be successful

  • Tertiary qualifications in OHS/HR or related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience leading a safety team within a medium-large corporate organisation
  • Proven track record in achieving outstanding health and safety outcomes
  • Strong understanding of relevant OHS legislation, Australian Standards and Codes of Practice
  • Strong stakeholder management experience and well-developed communication skills
  • Victorian Driver’s license

Given the breadth of RACV’s business, having a demonstrated ability to thrive in different operating environments is more important that specific industry experience.  Self-insurance or ISO45001 accreditation experience will be an advantage but is not essential.

Our values of Innovation, Accountability, Care & Teamwork genuinely define the way we approach Health, Safety & Wellbeing at RACV.

If you are interested in working with People who Care, where there is Room to Grow, and where you can Make a Difference, this could be the job for you!
