The Role
As the Head of Marketing for BlackMilk, you will be in the driving seat for our brand, marketing, ecommerce and community engagement strategies. You’ll bring together the community, content, and ecommerce and digital marketing teams, with a focus on growing and nurturing our brand and community. This role is crucial in ensuring our brand resonates with our customers on an emotional level, driving online sales, and fostering a loyal and engaged Sharkie (aka customer) community. As a storytelling brand with a fun & playful personality, this role unlike any other.
Combine your strategic expertise with your fun & playful side with a daily mix of the following:
- Lead the development and execution of comprehensive marketing and brand strategies that resonate with our unique and passionate Sharkie community globally.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our marketing efforts are aligned and deliver across all channels, both on and offline.
- Oversee and drive our social media strategy, ensuring we build and nurture our strong, engaged Sharkie community (we’ve got something really special here, so we’re looking for the head cheerleader to help nurture and keep it growing).
- Lead the development and implementation of unique and interesting go-to-market campaigns (READ… we want you to have some fun with it).
- Develop initiatives and programs to support the global growth of the brand (We are already global but there’s some key international markets that we want to deepen).
- Ensure above and below the line activities are balanced and designed to support brand awareness, acquisition and retention in line with the company’s goals.
- Drive product marketing initiatives, from creative launches to engaging messaging, to ensure our products connect on an emotional level with our community.
- Champion the brand ensuring consistency and integrity across all communication channels, ensuring a cohesive and compelling brand identity that shines through in everything we do.
- Analyse market trends, consumer insights, and the competitive landscape to spot opportunities for growth and ways to stand out.
- Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and innovation within the marketing team.
- Provide strategic guidance and mentorship, helping your team to grow and develop.
- Develop and manage marketing budgets, ensuring smart allocation of resources to meet our business objectives.
- Measure and report on the effectiveness Of Marketing campaigns and initiatives, using data-driven insights to optimise performance and return on expectation.
- Collaborate with other leadership team members to ensure marketing strategies align with overall business objectives and ensure that community is at the heart of decision making across the business.
About You
You are a seasoned marketing professional with a passion for building communities and brands that people love. You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and have a proven track record of driving marketing success. You are a strategic thinker who can translate insights into actionable strategies, and you understand the power of social media in building a brand. You bring a curiosity to your work and are not afraid to ask the questions that others aren’t asking.
Some of the things we are looking for:
- Solid experience in product marketing within the ecommerce industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing brand and ecommerce functions. Global experience is highly desirable.
- Strong strategic planning, brand management, and digital marketing skills.
- Ability to pull strategic insights from data and campaign performance to drive incremental improvement.
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, with a focus on fostering a creative and collaborative culture.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated experience in building and managing large social media followings, nurturing and growing a community with a track record of growing engagement and driving sales through social channels.
- Ability to think outside the box and develop innovative marketing strategies that resonate with our unique audience.
- A genuine passion for fashion and community engagement, with the ability to understand BlackMilk’s brand values and Sharkie community.
