Our mission is to “Eliminate the Idea of Waste". Operating in 22 countries, TerraCycle is a global innovator in the circular economy, specialising in recycling hard-to-recycle materials. Our programs collect and recycle almost any waste stream, including beauty packaging, disposable face masks, babies' nappies, cigarette butts and chewing gum, which we then turn into new products - like the world's first shampoo bottle made from beach plastic!

As a social enterprise, we drive positive change by partnering with some of the world’s largest corporations such as L'Oréal, P&G and Colgate to engage their customers to collected and return their packaging to TerraCycle to be turned into new products like outdoor furniture, playgrounds and park benches.

Globally, we are committed to addressing the waste crisis and driving a circular economy. In 2019 we started Loop, aimed at creating a reusable packaging economy, and the TerraCycle Foundation aimed at cleaning up ocean plastics with successful events conducted in Thailand and India.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Marketing leader looking to pivot their brand advocacy experience towards a for-purpose organisation. You will be a part of TerraCycle’s Leadership Team, leading our Marketing & Communications (MarComms) department including brand marketing, public relations, eCommerce, and customer service. You will be responsible for spearheading our brand image in a fast-paced environment within Australia and New Zealand (ANZ), and directing the way we engage brand partners (currently 60+) and direct consumers, in support of our sales and recycling collection targets.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Developing an overarching Marketing & Communication (MarComm) strategy to target and engage a range of consumers through our branded partnerships, marketing campaigns, and PR activities
  • Driving sales growth of TerraCycle Zero Waste Boxes via our Shopify website, implementing customer feedback to improve the product line
  • Driving revenue through increased engagement with our branded programs and volumes of products returned to our recycling programs
  • Managing the consumer messaging loop, ensuring communications from our PR, Customer Service, community outreach, and digital platforms, are accurate and consistent
  • Representing Terracycle as needed across public forums to involve and educate new adopters of sustainable living and a circular economy
  • Managing and supporting the PR, eComm, Digital/Content, Brand Marketing teams, ensuring alignment of activities to the overall MarComm strategy and wider TerraCycle ANZ business goals
  • Liaison with global department leads in the US to ensure alignment with global directives, processes and strategies
  • Leveraging knowledge and resources from counterparts across UK, Europe, Asia, and America as relevant.
  • Driving data capture and analysis processes and procedures, and manage reporting requirements at a team, regional, and global level as required
  • Driving development of team training resources, instructional resources, procedure documents, and internal processes to improve team productivity and new employee onboarding
  • Acting as a senior business leader, facilitating cross-team collaboration, mentoring growth, and being an ambassador for inclusion, entrepreneurship, and accountability.
  • Identifying and driving cross-team and cross-business projects to improve the TerraCycle product offering, operating procedures, and/or work structures to increase productivity and profitability
  • Identifying and nurturing talent within the business including scoping team growth and managing the talent pipeline across the MarComms team
About you

You are a skilled business leader looking to use your experience in marketing & communications to lead a strong team of passionate eco-warriors to promote TerraCycle services to communities across Australia & New Zealand.
  • Minimum ten years’ experience in marketing & communication, with best-practice knowledge of media relations, brand management and digital marketing.
  • Minimum three years’ experience managing a multi-disciplinary team
  • FMCG and/or Agency experience will be highly regarded
  • Proven ability to create, manage and report on comprehensive and effective communication and marketing strategies.
  • Ability to navigate complex corporate structures in a growing multinational organisation will be necessary
