About the Opportunity

Reporting to the General Manager Nuclear Oversight, you will operate as an independent 'Internal Nuclear Regulator' within the business for both SSN sustainment programs, establishing a working relationship and engagement plan with the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency and emerging Australian Naval Nuclear Power Safety (ANNPS) Regulator.

Responsibilities

As the Head of Nuclear Governance and Assurance you will provide Nuclear Governance and assurance guardrails across the whole organisation, spanning both SSN sustainment and build programs, establishing nuclear policies processes, and audit plans; conducting or supporting internal and external audits, develop and execute Nuclear Governance and assurance plans for both SSN sustainment and build programs in Regulatory engagement/Nuclear License and maintenance, implement best practices and meet industry leading standards and expectations; coordinate and support inspections and audits of programs by the external nuclear regulator and International Atomic Energy Agency.

About You 

To be successful as our Head of Nuclear Governance and Assurance you will have a Tertiary qualification in Engineering or a related discipline (Masters is preferred), Professional certification or membership in a nuclear field, 10 years’ experience in a senior nuclear role preferably in defence/shipbuilding or energy sector, demonstrated ability to lead a team in a highly complex environment, exemplary communication and leadership skills, and strong knowledge of Nuclear licensing and regulatory requirements.  

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
