DeadlyScience is a not-for-profit organisation providing STEM resources and learning experiences to regional and remote schools across Australia and connecting young Indigenous people with STEM professionals. In a few years we have grown to be Australia’s leading Indigenous STEM charity. We are looking for a new leader to head up our Service Delivery team and continue our growth journey. This is a work from home role, but will involve regular trips to our office in Port Macquarie
About your new role
The Head of Service Delivery is a dynamic leader who inspires and empowers a team of Program Managers to provide exceptional STEM learning experiences that align with DeadlyScience's mission and objectives. This role ensures the smooth operation, high-quality delivery, and continuous improvement of STEM programs, while fostering strong relationships with key funding organisations and internal stakeholders.
Main duties
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for STEM program delivery that aligns with organisational goals and objectives, including the establishment of new programs and new Service Delivery teams in multiple states and territories.
- Team Leadership and Development: Recruit, mentor, and coach a high-performing team of STEM Program Managers across multiple locations, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Program Management Excellence: Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of STEM programs across all locations, ensuring adherence to quality standards, budget, risk and compliance management, and timelines.
- Geographical Expansion: Lead the successful establishment and operation of new Service Delivery teams in multiple states and territories, ensuring consistent quality and alignment with the overall organisational strategy.
- Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement: Establish and maintain rigorous quality assurance processes across all locations, collect and analyse data to identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to enhance program effectiveness.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilise data and insights from program evaluation to inform decision-making, resource allocation, and program development.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with funders, partners, schools, community organisations, and internal stakeholders, ensuring open communication and collaboration.
- Financial Management: Manage program budgets, report on variances and determine appropriate responses, and ensure financial sustainability.
- Risk Management: Proactively identify, assess and mitigate risks associated with program delivery, ensuring adherence to compliance and regulatory obligations. Develop and maintain contingency plans to address unforeseen challenges.
- Funder Relationship Management: Build and maintain positive relationships with representatives from funding organisations. Provide regular updates, reports, and presentations that showcase the impact of their support.
- Representation and Advocacy: Effectively represent the organisation to stakeholders when required, promoting its mission and values.
About you
- Bachelor's degree in education, STEM-related field, business administration, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in program management, preferably in the education or STEM fields.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in supervisory and team leadership roles, culminating in the successful management of large, geographically dispersed teams. Proven ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments, drive operational excellence, and deliver measurable results.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing successful programs.
- Demonstrated success in fostering collaborative partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders, such as internal teams, external funders, educational institutions, Indigenous communities, and relevant organisations
- Demonstrated expertise in budget planning, implementation, and monitoring, ensuring the efficient and effective allocation of resources.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with data analysis and reporting tools.
- Demonstrated experience in coaching and mentoring team members with experience in facilitating the professional growth of team members through individualised coaching and development plans.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
