  • Salary from $148,488 to $174,739 (HEW10) plus 17% employer's superannuation contribution and annual leave loading.

We are united by one purpose to be a university of service and engagement, embodying the values of scholarship, integrity and empowerment.We are now seeking a new Head of Student Wellbeing to lead and manage the Student Wellbeing Service, a key area of the Dean of Students Office and an essential element of the Macquarie Advantage Strategy.The Head, Student Wellbeing is accountable for the strategic and operational activities aimed at equipping our students with the skills and resilience to rise to all challenges. Critical support activities include Disability and Mental Health Support services, Student Welfare, and Case Management all aimed to enhance our students’ experience and success during their studies and beyond. The Head, Student Wellbeing is also responsible for the oversight of student related critical incident management and supports complex case investigations.This position reports to the Dean of Students, Macquarie University. The Office of Dean of Students leads the development of the student experience, belonging, and sense of community across the university, both on campus and digitally. The Office is a part of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Registrar portfolio and is responsible for delivering on priority areas of the University’s Strategy and Operating Plan, in particular, for Student Wellbeing, engagement, and for supporting compliance activities. In doing so, the Office of the Dean of Students aligns the provision of student services and support to improve overall student experience and to retain high levels of satisfaction.About You:You are passionate about ensuring Student Wellbeing is optimised though effective operational planning and management of Student Wellbeing Service areas.You are a strategic thinker with extensive University experience at a senior leadership level, with excellent knowledge of student needs and expectations.You have proven success leading teams and managing functions while fostering a culture which supports high performance, collaboration, agility, and accountability.You have a track record of success in developing effective solutions, identifying innovative approaches, and embedding these in the culture and behaviours of the team.Highly collaborative in your approach, you build effective working relationships and cultivate a respectful and service focused environment that fosters initiative, innovation, and continuous improvement.In addition, the successful applicant will have the following skills, knowledge and experience:
  • Degree or equivalent experience in Health Management, Psychology, Wellbeing Services, or related discipline.
  • Demonstrable expertise in managing and directing a large wellbeing/health related service unit.
  • Clear evidence of business acumen, including extensive financial management and administration experience (budgeting, forecasting, data analytics and reporting).
  • Expert knowledge and experience of best practice in wellbeing intervention services for students in the context of the higher education system in Australia.
  • Experience working within a clinical governance framework to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality care.
  • Experience of working with health services and other stakeholders to and co-design and co-develop services and projects.
  • Knowledge of university governance, policy, and procedural frameworks.
  • Strong commitment to driving the highest quality and compliant wellbeing services within a culture of continuous improvement and service transformation.
  • Experience of developing and implementing strategies, policies and programs relating to the wellbeing and support of students.
