NSW School of Languages is a distance education language specialist school.
Student learning is supported through a program of online materials and online speaking lessons. The Head Teacher Administration would be expected to teach one of the 12 languages or EAL/D (English as an additional language or dialect) taught at the school.
Over 2700 students from government and non-government schools enrol in Years 9-12 as single course students if the language they wish to study is not provided in their home school and if their enrolment complies with Distance Education Enrolment Procedures.
The Head Teacher (Administration) is a fundamental role at NSW School of Languages. Head Teacher Administration manage processes across the whole school, works closely with Senior Executive, Administration staff and external stakeholders. The applicant would possess a high level of emotional intelligence and be able to manage multiple projects concurrently. Good communication and attention to detail are essential.
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
Approval to teach and experience teaching a language offered at NSW School of Languages.
High-level capacity to communicate with a wide range of government and non-government schools and all stakeholders to lead and manage all school administration including the collection of data and school policy monitoring procedures in a distance education language specialist school.
Demonstrated high-level interpersonal and communication skills to manage staff attendance and leave, the employment of casual staff, new staff induction program and overseeing mandatory training requirements for all staff.
Demonstrated high-level organisational and time management skills with a proven capacity to lead and manage school teams in the organisation of successful whole school events.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of the school leadership team, supporting the implementation of a shared vision, the school’s strategic directions.
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
