Chester Hill High School (CHHS) is a comprehensive, co–educational secondary school situated in southwestern Sydney and is part of the Auburn Schools Educational Network. The school encompasses an Intensive English Centre. Chester Hill High School has a current student enrolment of 1195 (1047 mainstream, 148 IEC). The school is culturally diverse with 93% of students possessing a language background other than English. Chester Hill High School has 117 refugee or refugee–like students and a growing number of students with an Aboriginal background. All students are encouraged to achieve in an environment that provides academic challenge and artistic, cultural and sporting opportunities. Strong parental and community partnerships are a feature of the school.
Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Demonstrated evidence of outstanding teaching with the ability to create a culture of high expectations to develop, lead and manage innovative program development, quality teaching and assessment practice that increase student engagement and outcomes.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to build the capacity of staff to enhance the engagement and wellbeing of students.
- Capacity to analyse data and work collaboratively with staff to lead innovative programs that support the implementation of the Strategic Improvement Plan.
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
