Fort Street High School is an academically selective High School with a long history of providing education for gifted students. The school is located in Petersham and has an enrolment of 915 students of whom 75% come from language backgrounds other than English. The school is known for developing leadership across an extensive range of areas and endeavours. Fortians are encouraged to be self-directed, independent learners as well as critical thinking young adults who contribute to society in the context of a highly developed social conscience. The school provides a wide range of co-curricular programs which enhance the learning of Fortians. The school is supported by a diverse and highly engaged parent community.
Selection CriteriaApplicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,- Expert knowledge of curriculum and assessment with a demonstrated capacity to lead the development and implementation of high-quality Stage 6 teaching and learning programs that support HPGE students.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills demonstrating the ability to develop and lead history and languages staff at all stages of their career, provide feedback and strategies to improve practice, and deliver professional learning to foster effective teaching practices.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement data driven, evidenced based teaching initiatives that have sustained and targeted impact on student performance.
- A strong record of contributing to whole school programs that demonstrate a capacity to work as a dynamic member of the school executive team in the implementation of shared visions and the school’s strategic directions.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
