Health Practice Manager

The Role

If you have experience leading a team and are driven by the challenge of ensuring consistent and customer-focused health administration with a small but diverse workforce in a multi-disciplinary health centre, then this position as Laverton Clinic Practice Manager would suit you. Reporting to the Simpson Barracks Health Centre Manager, you will be the day-to-day operational manager of a facility that provides medical, nursing, mental health, dental, and rehabilitation services to a dependency of 500 Australian Defence Force members. 

Located at RAAF Base Williams, you will be directly responsible for managing the administrative and customer-oriented aspects of the facility, whilst ensuring that Defence members receive optimal healthcare. You will manage a small team that is responsible for managing health care appointments, medical administration, and liaising with internal and external health care providers. 

You will be responsible for the coordination of new staff orientation, liaising with contracted service delivery providers, and managing a workforce consisting of military, Australian Public Service (APS), and contractors. With proven written and verbal communication skills, you will be comfortable with managing changing priorities and short notice tasks, whilst being able to work collaboratively within your team.

About our Team

Reporting to the Simpson Barracks Health Centre Manager, you will be working within an integrated team of health care professionals, whereby you will ensure the proper functioning of the clinic in supporting the delivery of clinical and occupational health care to serving members of the Australian Defence Force. 

The health and wellbeing support provided to Defence members at our health facilities is crucial to the capability of the Australian Defence Force. The administration team assist with initial patient streaming, medical appointments, referrals, specialist bookings, and military medical administration processes and is critical to the health centre's functioning.

Our Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate would have experience managing a diverse workforce in a challenging environment, adept at prioritising effort, with an ability to interpret and communicate information to your team. You will be task orientated, possessing an ability to apply your experience in a similar role to achieve results. 

With an attention to detail, you will have a proven ability to interpret key risks and issues to the health system, whilst being able to effectively communicate these to both your higher managers and your team. You will be well versed in IT applications such as MS Word, Outlook, and Excel, as well as having experience with a medical health record. Through your strong written and verbal communication style, you will have the ability to influence others to support a positive culture and to generate a 'one-team' approach to issues. 

You will have the ability to harness the strength of your team to achieve results, build team cohesion, and foster the highest standards of personal integrity and ethical behaviour. You will lead and coach your team to achieve shared objectives, and be adept at identifying and addressing workplace issues.
