ABOUT THE ROLE
We are currently seeking a Health, Safety & Environment Coordinator that can contribute to the effective operation of the Health, Safety and Environment (“HSE”) systems and processes for all Saltbush Operational Sites to minimise risk and harm to personnel, environment and equipment in a manner that complies with HSE legislation and the Company’s Vision, Values and policies.
Individuals will need to have a positive, flexible team-oriented approach, with willingness and desire to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. This position will give you enough variety to keep you on your toes and will provide the successful candidate with plenty of room to grow and develop.
The role is available for Goldfield's (Kalgoorlie/Kambalda) candidates working a 5:2 roster 10-hour days site based. Our primary site is located approximately 50km outside of Kalgoorlie, however travel to sites in Perth and the Mid-west will be required on a bi-weekly basis.
This role is about Championing the Company and Site health, Safety and Environment strategies, policies, and objectives, whilst operating as part of the site leadership team but equally, being comfortable and ‘hands on’ out on site, ensuring compliance and developing continuous improvements.
DUTIES INCLUDED
- Lead the development and sustenance of a positive team safety culture.
- Develop, implement and maintain safe work procedures and promote high safety awareness.
- Be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the team.
- Develop, implement and maintain procedures to ensure work is carried out in an environmentally sustainable manner.
- Coordinate and monitor procedural systems, processes and training for the operations in accordance with the WHS Act 2020 (“Act”) and the Regulations under the Act.
- Develop and maintain training systems for all employees, contractors and visitors to ensure statutory compliance and the safe, efficient achievement of business objectives.
- Continually monitor and manage training requirements of all operators to ensure skills requirements are met.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety, Environment or related discipline, or significant practical experience to an equivalent level.
- Well-established career in an operational mining & civil environment, preferably Haulage and civil service, which displays knowledge of occupational health and safety in the resources sector, including experience in leadership positions.
- Demonstrated experience in medical and emergency response coordination.
- Experience with ICAM investigation methodology or similar.
- Demonstrated skills and extensive knowledge in the development and review of health, Safety and Environment systems and plans, and legislative and statutory requirements for operations within a mining environment.
- Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment skills, such as development and monitoring of risk controls and actions involved in the delivery and implementation of projects.
- Proven experience in facilitating formal risk assessments and root cause investigations.
- Proficient user of audit and investigation tools and information management systems.
- Experience working with injury management and workers compensation.
- Strong level of skill in the analysis of health, Safety and Environment data to identify trends and recommend areas of focus and improvement.
