We are looking for an experienced HSE Advisor to act as a subject matter advisor for health, Safety and workers compensation matters across the allocated businesses within our Hazelmere, Perth WA operations. Additionally, we want and Advisor to coach operational managers and actively assist them in delivering a safe workplace with a strong safety culture. To maintain and develop systems as required and ensure practical solutions are developed for our workforce.
Principal outcomes required from this role
· Consistent solutions are in place across our multiple sites for addressing common workplace health and safety issues
· Management understands our legal obligations and our sites comply with legislative requirements in all of the jurisdictions in which we operate
· Our sites are industry leaders with regard to workplace health and safety
Responsibilities
This role will support operational management and provide safety advice for our manufacturing/distribution facilities. Ensuring our obligations for road transport logistics is also a prime responsibility.
· Develop business level policy, procedures, systems and SOPs
· Engage businesses and encourage consistency around standard safety solutions
· Perform assurance functions as required and prepare concise reports for management
· Work with businesses to identify and develop new initiatives that lead to measurable performance gains within safety systems, processes and behaviours
· Actively assist business leaders with implementation of corrective actions and/or safety improvement initiatives
· Assist with implementation of agreed head office safety objectives
· Ensure that return to work claims are regularly reviewed and effectively managed
· Design plant risk assessments and manage training functions
· Have a regular presence on site and lead safety from the front line.
· Assist with contractor management functions as required.
Your Experience and Capability
The successful applicant will possess the following:
· Cert IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety.
· 5+ years practical experience in a HSE role with a focus on either workshop or mechanical environment.
· Excellent written and communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with fellow team members, management, stakeholders and customers.
· Competent computing skills, advanced Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
· Recognised safety education or training
· Demonstrated history of reducing workplace injuries and related statistics
· Incident investigation training and experience participating in investigations
· Experience in preparing and delivering training to frontline workgroups
· Preparing procedural and work instruction materials
· Competent in conducting risk assessments
· High level personal planning and organisational skills
· Effective and confident subject matter leader
· Inquisitive mind with a high attention to detail
· Can work alongside, and advise, all management and employee levels
· Displays high energy levels and always engages people with enthusiasm
· Builds strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
· Must be able to work both independently and as a team player
