Located in Wagga Wagga, Enirgi Power Storage Recycling (EPSR) operates a best practice battery recycling facility processing lead acid batteries.
The Health, Safety and Training Officer (HSO) is responsible for ensuring the site maintains core commitments to Compliance, Health and Safety through routine inspections, observations, training, effective communication with an aim of maintaining a safe environment for the working community to achieve production targets.
The position is 5 days a week - Monday to Friday, 38 hours per week, with some flexibility options possible to the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Assist Health & Safety Manager (HSM) with monitoring activities required for compliance and minimisation of OHS hazards.
- Promote a hazard identification and risk management culture throughout all operational processes and ensure any issues are dealt with as a matter of priority.
- Adhere to and follow safe work practices, hazard identification, emergency and evacuation procedures.
- Assist HSM in the management of return to work of injured staff.
- Assist with the monitoring and evaluation of the onsite Risk Management System.
- Schedule and deliver training of new employees (induction, systems, process).
- Deliver onsite induction packages for contractors and drivers.
- Maintain effective communication with site personnel.
- Maintain registers such as high-risk license, training and first aid.
- Attend and deliver toolbox meetings as required.
- Actively participate in work area safety inspections and audits.
- Assist with management of contractors during maintenance shut periods.
- Monitor the storage, usage and handling of Dangerous Goods held on site.
- Conduct hygiene checks with personnel – respirator fit tests, PPE upkeep.
- Involved with the management of personnel's BLL's.
- Assist in holding site Safety Committee Meetings.
Requirements
Essential:
- Well-developed computer skills including Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- High level organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to motivate others to complete assigned tasks through online training packages.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of personnel.
- Self-driven
- Ability to work independent and unsupervised.
- Proven ability for attention to detail.
- Current driver's license.
Desirable:
- Certification in WHS Cert IV or equivalent experience.
- A recognised certification in Training and Assessing e.g.
- Cert IV or equivalent experience.
- Return to Work Co-Ordinator
- First Aid certificate
- FLT license
