About this exciting opportunity
We recognise that safety management and the wellbeing of our people are intrinsically linked with delivering quality science. The Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Advisor is a key member of our HSE team who facilitates and advises on a range of processes to achieve a safe workplace for our people. Primarily this role is responsible for providing support and advice in managing risks associated with day-to-day operations in scientific research environments including workshops, laboratories and in the field.
This broad role will see you develop and review safety management systems, coordinate HSE initiatives and processes, conduct audits, inspections and incident investigations and support other operational activities associated with coastal and remote offshore field work. Using your subject matter expertise, you will contribute to the HSE team and to business objectives in support of AIMS Strategy 2030, team goals and project outcomes.
About you
You will have qualifications and proven knowledge and experience in understanding and managing risk in a range of operational areas, and be able to deliver practical HSE advice and support services while engaging and partnering with diverse groups of stakeholders. Working within a collaborative HSE team, you will support AIMS personnel at various levels within the organisation and deliver on operational business objectives. Your excellent time management skills, and the ability to prioritise work demands, and to work independently, will enable you to advance HSE initiatives, processes, and systems.
Drawing on your previous involvement in field work in a marine environment, you will contribute to problem solving and identify ways forward that are both safe and practical, through your ability to engage and influence people at all organisational levels to affect a positive safety change and achieve objectives. Your experience in field work will include working from vessels and field bases and include diving. Knowledge of oil and gas industry safety standards and management processes would be desirable.
