- Identify key priority work areas through assessments and audits of the organisation, respond to risk reports.
- Assist with development of the HSW strategic plan for assessment and implementation of work priorities.
- Implement areas from the HSW Plan as outlined in the key effective areas outlined in the key effective areas and agree on implementation timelines
- Represent Peter Mac and HSW on relevant committees and working groups throughout the organisation.
- Effectively manage claims costs and the impact on WorkCover premium.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with the insurer and monitor the services provided.
- Coordinate review of WorkCover claims for consultation with the insurer, including participation and leadership in scheduled claims reviews.
- Provide timely WorkCover /RTW statistics and reports (KPI's) to stakeholders to inform effective decision making on WorkCover / Return to Work arrangements.
- Represent Peter Mac at the Accident Compensation Conciliation Service (ACCS), advocating on behalf of the organisation in consultation with the authorised insurer representative.
- Support the coordination of documentation to serious injury applications and associated court proceedings when required and liaise with external WorkCover appointed solicitors on court cases and/or Common Law matters.
- Establish relationships with the managers and employees to ensure compliance with WorkCover/ Return to Work principles.
- Evaluate the program / reporting responsibilities.
- Liaise with relevant groups to ensure currency of knowledge of relevant regulations and guidelines.
- Provide claims administration advice to employees on the workers compensation process, including costs, benefits and entitlements.
- Be a point of contact for employer regarding any queries or issues related the claim.
- Inform through appropriate channels of any changes to legislation where it affects Peter Mac's business operations
- Meet with the Manager Health, Safety & Wellbeing regularly to discuss the progress of the agreed HSW projects / programs and wellbeing objectives
- Support the undertaking of Injury Management / return to work / claims activities as required to ensure timely and effective services are delivered to reduce WorkCover premiums.
- Establish and maintain procedures to identify and monitor HSW risks in Peter Mac by following up on incidents and injuries.
- Liaise with the managers, train the trainers, HSR and HSW team to assist when problem solving HSW issues.
- Conduct internal program development, risk assessments, auditing and training, provide reports and recommendations that will develop the safety management system.
- Undertake regular review of the equipment needs, facilitate purchases, SOPs, and risk assessments.
- Evaluate current programs and reporting responsibilities as appropriate.
- Liaise with the clinical products advisor, Facilities & PPP and procurement to coordinate minor works programs and the trial and purchase of new equipment, as required
- Contribute towards minimisation of the financial impact of incidents and accidents and promote HSW culture of ongoing participation in safety awareness and accident prevention.
- Review HSW performance indicators, analysis reasons for not meeting indicators and recommendations for improvement.
- Represent Peter Mac on committees, as required.
