The Strategic Capabilities Office (SCO) will oversee the execution of GWEO initiatives.
Responsible for the overall interpretation, implementation, development and ongoing management of environmental, safety and health (ESH) related programs at MFC facilities in Australia.This role will be fly in fly out of Melbourne.About you:To be successful in securing this position, you will have:
  • 5-10 years ESH experience in a leadership role
  • Explosives background and experience in Major Hazard Facilities including management of plans etc
  • Extensive experience in a similar position with a focus on partnering with management to implement solid, practical and simplistic ESH management approaches and systems.
  • Substantial experience working within a medium to large organisation implementing ESH Management System changes across multiple sites and programs.
  • Substantial experience achievement implementing changes in workplace culture with improved awareness of safety and occupational health behaviours.
  • Extensive experience conducting ESH investigations of incidents and development of reports to senior management for corrective actions and improvements.
  • Extensive experience in the design, delivery and evaluation of risk assessment, safety auditing and compliance programs.
  • Computer literacy with an ability to produce, analyse, and interpret highly complex reports and management information
  • Intermediate to advanced skills and experience in the use of MS Office and other relevant software packages and applications
  • Understanding of program management concepts and approach.
  • Significant experience providing effective guidance, mentoring and training to other employees

In this role, you will:
  • Oversee the implementation of the ESH Management system and compliance to the Australian Dangerous Goods Code, hazardous material shipments (includes all modes of transport), transportation security plans, etc.
  • Supporting compliance to the Title 27 BATFE regulations for the MFC facilities that handle, transfer and/or import/export firearms, destructive devices, and/or explosives and verification of required licenses and compliance to these.
  • Prepare stakeholder briefing documents, and presentations including supporting documents for the WHS Committee, and any external regulatory organisations.
  • Actively contribute to WHS Committee including the preparation of agenda, support papers and minutes including consultation with key stakeholders.
  • Lead the preparation of safety and environmental impact statements, manuals and procedures.
  • Serves as a consultant to management and external spokesperson for the organisation on major matters pertaining to its policies, plans, and objectives.
  • Provide solutions to a wide range of complex problems. Independently determine and develop an approach to solutions that are innovative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organisational objectives
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders to promote consistency and excellence in compliance of EESH management system our across Australia, and partner with cross lines of business within the International ESH community.
  • Plan, coordinate and lead activities to ensure compliance with EESH policies and procedures in accordance with LMA safety management systems and applicable legislation.
  • Deliver ESH solutions in line with operational improvement initiatives and target.
  • Communicate and consult with stakeholders and provide appropriate information, instruction, and training to promote an environment, health and safety focused culture.
  • Lead investigations into ESH related incidents, injuries, and hazards, and recommend appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
  • Lead, conduct, and ensure compliance with risk management activities across sites.
  • Lead the conduction of site, system, and project audits and inspections.
  • Ensure compliance of worker safety through proactive facilitation of the WHS/ESH Committee and accurate and up to date content on the ESH Management System.
  • Manage and maintain permits and ensure correct execution of specific programs, customer, and site ESH requirements.
  • Analyse ESH data and prepare ESH status reports, with timely and accurate reporting of issues, and risk and dependency of issues in line with relevant regulatory and legal ESH requirements.
