The Victorian Government is upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new traffic management technology and Melbourne’s first dedicated busway. These changes will slash travel times and improve public transport in Melbourne’s east.
Symal is part of the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance with Major Road Projects Victoria, Laing O’Rourke, Arcadis and WSP. Our scope of work includes a new interchange connecting the Eastern Freeway to the North East Link tunnels, major road and bridge upgrades between Burke Road and Tram Road, smart traffic management technology upgrades and new noise protection to meet Victoria’s toughest traffic noise standards. The local community will also benefit from new and upgraded walking and cycling connections, upgrades to Koonung Creek Reserve and revitalised wetlands and open spaces.
The role:
As our Alliance continues to grow, we are looking a Health, Safety &Wellbeing Systems and Assurance Coordinatorto join the Health, Safety & Wellbeing team in a permanent role.
Reporting to the Senior HSW Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of safety and wellbeing within our Alliance.
With a focus on compliance and timely reporting, this role ensures adherence to legislative requirements and company policies, making safety the foremost consideration in all our operations, as well as coordinate safety reports, maintain our safety databases and overseeing the implementation of safety management systems.
Your every day:
- Coordinate Safety & Wellbeing Reports: Liaise with stakeholders to implement and monitor safety reports, ensuring timely and appropriate actions are taken.
- Maintain Safety Database: Keep our safety database up-to-date with the latest information, ensuring accurate records are maintained for analysis and reporting purposes.
- HSW Systems & Assurance Activities: Coordinate training and implementation of safety management Systems and processes, facilitating training as required. In addition, supporting the schedule and monitoring of PMO assurance activities.
- Data Analysis: Utilise analytical skills to examine data and identify emerging trends, enabling proactive measures to enhance safety performance.
- Assurance: Participate in internal and independent audits as a Lead Auditor or Audit Team member, contributing to the continuous improvement of our safety systems.
- Training and Promotion: Conduct Safety Management Systems and process training and promote EBTA's Safety Management System.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in the continual improvement of our organisational Systems and processes
- Reporting: Oversee the coordination of HS&W reporting obligations, liaising with packages to ensure timely and quality data.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to legislative requirements and Company policies, making safety the primary consideration in all operations.
- Communication: Confidently communicate, both written and verbally to support the development of procedures, documents, communications and training.
- Record Management: Liaise with appropriate stakeholders to ensure document management and archiving processes are aligned with LORA Primary Standards
Who are you?
- Certificate IV in WHS or related
- More than 3 years’ experience working in WHS in an Administration or Coordinator role
- More than 12 months experience working in construction – civil, rail, infrastructure or a major project
- Experience in database management, coordinating training and implementation of safety management Systems and data analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, spelling and grammar
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to travel to and work from site offices in the eastern suburbs
