About the Opportunity
Applications are invited for scientists/technicians for full-time positions in the dissection laboratory, main laboratory and the immunohistochemistry section of Histopathology. Applicants with prior experience will be highly regarded and are encouraged to apply.
The dissection positions will perform the cut-up and preparation of non-complex specimens, and candidates are being sought for evening shifts (start times between 1400-1900). The main laboratory positions involve the embedding and microtomy of specimens to fill early morning shifts (start times between 0200-0400). The IHC position will work rotating morning and day shifts (start times between 0500-1100). This position involves the preparation of slides prior to IHC as well as the handling of specimens for special stains and immunofluorescence.
Core duties:
- Dissection: cut up and prepare non-complex specimens
- Main laboratory: embed and perform microtomy of specimens
- IHC: prepare slides prior to IHC and handle specimens for special stains and immunofluorescence.
The ideal candidate will have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and will be exceptionally organised, with a demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and perform duties with accuracy and efficiency.
