Requisition ID: REQ480279Note: This is an honorary/unpaid position.Nepean Hospital is a major referral and teaching hospital of the University of Sydney. Nepean Hospital is recognised as comprising one of the largest and busiest maternity care facilities in Western Sydney. The tertiary level public hospital provides care for approximately 4000 births per year, including high risk antenatal care, and services the state’s highest population of high-risk groups such as Aboriginal and Pacific Islander women.The primary purpose of the position is to provide quality urogynaecological care to patients in a complex clinical environment whilst developing higher professional maturity as during advanced training, whilst working towards FRANZCOG.The goals of this training are to enhance existing skills in the management of urogynaecological problems and acquire advance skills in diagnostic procedures in urogynaecology as well as vaginal and laparoscopic surgery. This will also allow the Medical Officer to gain further experience in organising the structure of teaching and research activities.Essential requirements
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- Competency in:
- Obstetric and Gynaecological history taking and examination.
- Pelvic examination including speculum examination and PAP smears.
- Basic understand of Obstetric skills including antenatal care.
- Basic understanding of Obstetric and Gynaecological ultrasound reports.
- Recent relevant clinical experience required to undertake the key accountabilities for this role.
- This position is subject to an appropriate supervision level which can be supported by the health agency. If the incumbent’s registration conditions include supervision requirements, the level of supervision must be able to be supported by the health agency for this role.
- Valid Working with Children Check, cleared National Police Check.
- To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy, this includes any amendments made from time to time.
- Advanced ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, including the sharing of appropriate information internally and externally with key persons or services.
- Advanced ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise.
- Advanced verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to vary communication style in line with the understanding of the needs of diverse audiences.
- Advanced ability to prioritise workloads and display a flexible approach to meet changing situations in a demanding and unpredictable clinical environment.
- Commitment to participating in Training and development opportunities to further develop skills and knowledge in the area of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
- Previous experience in and willingness to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training.
