and Reconstructive SMO will provide clinical management and treatment of patients in Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District. This care will be provided within the scope of practice granted by the ISLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee.This role will be primarily based at The Wollongong Hospital (TWH) but may be required to provide services to Shellharbour Hospital (SHH) and Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital (SDMH).The Plastic
and Reconstructive Surgeon will proactively:
- Support the development of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery services
- Support and facilitate a culture of learning and best practice
- Support and develop Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery research within the department
Staff Specialist (State) Award Salary
Staff Specialists also have access to Training, Education and Study Leave (TESL) - $38,000 and 25 calendar days per year.The Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) has responsibility for health services in the Illawarra Shoalhaven region – a catchment area extending along the coastline from Helensburgh in the north to North Durras in the south with over 400,000 residents. This catchment covers four Local Government Areas (LGAs): Wollongong, Kiama, Shellharbour and Shoalhaven. ISLHD operates eight hospital sites in Coledale, Bulli, Wollongong, Port Kembla, Shellharbour, Berry, Shoalhaven and Milton Ulladulla, and community health services operating from approximately 58 locations across the region. ISLHD is one of the region’s largest employers with a workforce of more than 8,500 staff.Wollongong Hospital is the largest of Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District’s eight hospitals, treating more than 48,000 patients annually. It is the region’s tertiary referral hospital servicing a population of more than 400,000 people. The Wollongong Hospital is a 500+ bed centre which provides both general and specialty medical and surgical services including adult intensive care and coronary care units.ISLHD leadership is strongly committed to facilitating clinical research. , , andSelection Criteria: * Specialist registration or eligible for specialist registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and/or equivalent specialist recognition.
- Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
- Proven capacity and/or experience in the provision of effective high quality services, demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality improvement activities relevant to the specialty.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching with experience in teaching both undergraduate and post graduate students and other staff of the hospital.
- Demonstrate the skills and attitudes appropriate as a Senior Medical Practitioner including modelling a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and staff and to work as an effective member of the clinical team across multiple sites.
- Demonstrated experience in and commitment to research relevant to the role and needs of the Department.
