About the Role
Getting top-quality fruit and fruit-based products from our farms to our partners and customers in perfect condition requires a lot of planning, coordination and communication. Your work creates a vital link in achieving that.
This function works closely with others in the production team to ensure that the supply of products (fresh and value add) from Manbulloo's farms and contract growers is organised, efficient and cost effective, delivering consistently high quality and delivery outcomes.
Key aspects include:
- Provide the overview and plans including directions and instructions to Packhouse Managers, Dispatch Supervisors and Admin Officers on customer orders, destinations, and logistic details.
- Monitor performance and liaise with Supply Chain service providers to ensure practices are optimal throughout.
- In liaison with the Quality Manager, investigate, organise and implement corrective actions and improvements.
- Develop, maintain and implement customer supply plans and associated systems and processes.
- Participate in planning and review meetings with customers and other communications as appropriate.
- Manage product stock levels and product stock age across the Supply Chain on a daily basis.
- Manage daily supply of product to match customer orders.
- In conjunction with the Packhouse Operations Manager, manage the procurement of packaging and other consumables.
- Negotiate service provider contracts across the whole Supply Chain.
- Negotiate and coordinate transport rates, service and activity.
- Organise and participate in the training of packhouse staff as appropriate
- Develop, monitor and review information systems in all related areas.
Keep in mind that this is both a responsible management role, where you are expected to contribute to planning and decision, and a hands-on role where you need to make the calls and get things done. The variety and challenge is exciting!
The role is mostly based in the Eagle Farm office, but you can also expect to travel to farms in FNQ and NT, customers and Supply Chain partners as required.
About You
As you can see from the role's requirements, there are five core things you'll need.
- Knowledge of Supply Chain management in fresh produce where quality, time and handling is critical. Planning, communicating, analysing, and predicting are all key skills. Multi-tasking too.
- You'll need to be proactive, taking responsibility and initiative. This industry is fast-paced and hectic in-season, and you'll need to stay ahead to not fall behind.
- This is a team-based role. Although you will use your initiative and just get on with things that need to be done, that is always as part of your role within the team. Without their cooperation and support, you won't get much done.
- This is an externally connected role, so you'll need to have the relationship-building skills to get things done with customers, suppliers and other partners along the way. You can't rely on emails or forms - you need to talk with people.
- The role is flat out during harvest season, so you'll need to really focus in that October - March period. Outside of those months we want you to reflect, explore and prepare. it is critical that those seasonal ups and downs fit the life balance you need.
Ideally you will already know about fresh food Supply Chain practices and demands. However, if you have what you consider to be relevant experience in a closely related field and are fast to learn, you are encouraged to apply.
