An extraordinary opportunity has arisen after 20 years to become the Housekeeping Manager and join our senior leadership team at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.
About You…
- Friendly and outgoing.

- Passion for events.
- Specialist skills with an in depth knowledge of Housekeeping and cleaning with a minimum of 5 years experience in a management role.
- A high level of experience in managing people and projects.
- Previous operational experience in a major hospitality venue.
- Ability to work a variety of shifts over a 7 day period.
- Knowledge of pest control and waste management is desirable.
About the role…
- Effectively manage, monitor and control the cleanliness and presentation of the BCEC including the provision of a high level of housekeeping services for events.
- Deliver and provide a diverse range of Waste Management services, with a strong focus on protecting the environment and continuous improvement in systems.
- Create rosters ensuring adequate event and day to day housekeeping coverage.
- Assist, support, coach and guide your team demonstrating knowledge and experience specific to Housekeeping including training of permanent and casual staff, assessing training needs.
- Manage and control the departmental budget.
- Ensure the department has the technology required to supports its activities and make recommendations for improvements in systems and operations.
- Foster a culture of care and collective success.
- Research and trial new equipment and products relating to the role.
- Keep up to date with knowledge of cleaning compounds, solvents, chemicals and industry trends.
- Consult with internal and external stakeholders with regard to specific housekeeping needs.
- Liaise with and organise cleaning contractors and suppliers building good relationships.
- Develop and monitor program cleaning, quality control systems and procedures.
- Have sound knowledge of cleaning equipment and machinery and oversee service and repairs.
- Organise and monitor Pest Control operations, waste management and recycling services ensuring up to date records are kept.
Selection Criteria …

- Demonstrated ability to manage a large team of staff across a busy, complex operation, 7 days and nights.
- Provide examples of the highest level of attention to detail and housekeeping standards.
- Examples of administration experience.
- Customer Service experience.
- Experience with commercial exhibition cleaning and a diverse range of events.
